Plateau State Government has expressed its readiness to fund the treatment and surgery of 10 children with heart defects and as well promote public health by ensuring that necessary medical equipment are available in all health institutions across the state.
The State Commission for Information Mallam Mohammed Nazif, who disclosed this in Jos, said the administration of Governor Simon Lalong has been forthcoming in its responsibility to the health sector adding that take off grant had been released for the Plateau State Primary Health Care Development Board.
On the recent outbreak of lassa fever in the state, Nazif said the state government was able to arrest the situation and no casualty was recorded adding that government had equally purchased five ambulances and distributed to General Hospitals in Barakin Ladi, Mangu, Pankshin, Langtang and Shendam.
He also pointed out that government had acquired five hectares of land in Lamingo for the new national housing project while compensation had been paid and titled issued to the Federal Ministry of Power, Work and Housing preparatory to the commencement of the project.
According to him, an MoU had also being signed for another housing programme in the state, under the programme 7500 housing units were to be built across the three senatorial zones with 4500 in the northern zone and 1500 each in the central and southern zones of the state representative.
Mallam Nazif further disclosed that the ministry of women affairs in collaboration with Plateau State Aids Control Agency assisted by World Bank, enrolled 50 persons living with HIV/AIDS, orphans and vulnerable children and care givers for training in tailoring, knitting, shoe making, computer applications as a form empowerment.
He therefore enjoined people of the state to sustain the tempo of peace in the state and avoid any act that might jeopardize the efforts of the government in providing dividends of democracy.
