PHOTOS: Sanusi meets Niger coup leaders

The leader of the Tijjaniya Movement in Africa and the 14th Emir of Kano Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi  has met with the leaders of the military junta Niger Republic in what appears to have taken the world by surprise.

Recall, the military  junta had aborted a meeting with representatives of African Union (AU), Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS) and a top US diplomat.

Last week a delegation of ECOWAS who stormed the presidential palace in Niamey and met with both the coup leaders, ousted president Muhammad Bazoum, immediate former president,  could not broker peace as the military junta failed to grant audience to the delegation.

However, on Wednesday, Sanusi, whose Tijjaniya sect has a large following in Niger met with the military leadership .

As at the time of filling the report, details of their meeting was not known but it would not be unconnected with the change of leadership in the country which has brought untold hardships to the people of the sub region.

Khalifa Sanusi might used his influence as the head  of the Tijjaniya sect in Nigeria to broker peace with the military leadership.

Their meeting was coming after 24hours after the ECOWAS led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu imposed more sanctions on the military rulers.

Sanusi from the footages was in company of the Sultan of Damagaran as well as other unidentified persons.
