Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Daniel Amah, widely recognized for rejecting a $200,000 bribe, has embraced Islam in a ceremony at the palace of the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II.
The private event, which took place on Tuesday, saw Amah officially welcomed into the Islamic faith, where he adopted Muhammad as his new name.
In his address, the Emir, speaking in Hausa, encouraged Amah to seek knowledge about Islam and to faithfully observe the five pillars of the faith: belief in Allah, the five daily prayers, fasting during Ramadan, pilgrimage to Mecca, and giving Zakat (charitable donations). The Emir also prayed for Allah’s guidance, hoping Amah would become one of the best Muslims in the world.
The Emir further advised Amah to continue to uphold his good character and remain respectful and obedient to his parents, regardless of their religious beliefs.

These suspects had stolen over N300 million during a robbery operation. The prime suspect, Ali Zaki, had orchestrated the robbery, which targeted a Bureau De Change operator carrying $750,000 in cash.
In recognition of his outstanding integrity, Amah was promoted from Chief Superintendent of Police to Assistant Commissioner of Police by the Police Service Commission on November 10, 2022.
Furthermore, former President Muhammadu Buhari awarded him the 2022 Public Service Integrity Award, based on a recommendation by the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye, in a letter dated September 13, 2022.
