Officials from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, alongside the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), are currently responding to a fire outbreak at the Oko Baba Plank Market in the Ebute Metta area of Lagos.
This was revealed on Sunday by an X user, @Stylomedia.
According to the user, the fire has also spread to shanties in the market.
He wrote, “Okobaba Street, Area on fire now all the shanties are burning #disaster #displaced #burning #woodhouse.”
According to Punch, while confirming the development, the LASEMA’s spokesperson, Nosa Okunbor, revealed that emergency responders are at the scene carrying out a search and rescue operation.
Okunbor said, “LASEMA Response Team, LRU Fire Unit, and Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service are engaged in a search and rescue operation at Oko Baba Plank Market on Ibadan Street, Ebute Metta.”
