PERA Awards set to honour Aluwe, Saidi Balogun, Obesere at 8th edition

As the countdown begins to the 8th edition of the Pacesetters Entertainment and Recognition Awards (PERA), the organizing committee has announced that iconic figures from the Nigerian movie and comedy industries will be honored this year. Sunday Omobolanle, famously known as Aluwe, will receive a Special Recognition Award for his outstanding contributions to the film industry over the years.

Mr. Rotimi Martins, also known as Alariwo of Africa and the executive producer of the awards, emphasized the committee’s commitment to selecting honorees with great care. “We are very selective in choosing who we honor each year,” he explained. “These fearless actors have brought joy to us over the years, and this is our way of showing appreciation for their incredible work.”

Plans are already underway for a spectacular celebration to honor the awardees, ensuring that this year’s ceremony will be both exceptional and unforgettable.

PERA is dedicated to celebrating individuals from various fields who have made a significant impact in their careers. In addition to Aluwe, other honorees include renowned movie actors and directors, such as Yomi Amodu, Afeez Owo, and Christiana Olayemi, the CEO of Bankyloolas Cuisine, who will be recognized as Entrepreneur of the Year.

The organizing committee explained that these individuals were selected due to their hard work and contributions, particularly in empowering and creating job opportunities for the residents of the state. “We are passionate about honouring those who have made a difference, and we ensure that every awardee reflects the best in our community,” they added.

Since its inception, PERA has been self-funded but has recently formed a valuable partnership with Chief Mrs. Evelyn Omolara Farounbi, CEO of Marikina Fun Place, and wife of Ambassador Yemi Farounbi OON. This collaboration has provided substantial support over the past five years.

Sponsorship has been a challenge for the awards, but the committee believes that more prominent figures and brands should view PERA as an opportunity to showcase their products and support this significant platform.

The 8th edition of PERA will take place on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at Mauve 21 Event Center from 2 p.m., with Maltina as a key sponsor. The event will celebrate the fearless individuals who continue to make remarkable contributions to the entertainment industry, with many notable celebrities expected to be in attendance.
