Ahmed Madaki Gololo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been declared as the winner of the Gamawa Federal Constituency in the House of Reps by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Ahmed Madaki Gololo according to the Returning Officer of the rerun election held on Saturday, Dr Abubakar Mohammed, of the Federal University, Dutse polled a total of 21,223 votes to defeat his closest rival, Isa Mohammad Wabu of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) who polled a total of 15,004 votes.
The Returning Officer of the re-run who made the announcement at the INEC Area Office of Gamawa federal constituency stated that, “having satisfied all the requirements of the law, I, Dr Abubakar Mohammed of the Federal University, Dutse hereby declared that Ahmed Madaki Gololo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) scored the highest votes of 21,223 and is hereby declared the winner and returned elected.”

It will be recalled that the Court of Appeal had cancelled the earlier election for the constituency held during the 2019 general elections. The election was won by the APC candidate, Garba Gololo, whom the court ruled was not validly nominated as the candidate by the APC. The party was subsequently not allowed to field any candidate in Saturday’s rerun.
Others who participated in the election including Dahiru Alhaji of ACD scored 102 while Bashir Dogowa scored of ADC scored 152, Waziri Isah of PRP scored 47, Ibrahim Aliyu of Mega Party scored 78 and Mustafa Abdul Ahmed of GPN scored 248.
