The governor thanked the people of the State for supporting the party in 2015, expressing the hope that the party would receive similar support in 2019.

Earlier in his speech, Obi lauded Ugwuanyi for the reception accorded him, stressing “this is the first time in my political life that I’m being welcomed at the airport. It will go into my history because it did not even happen when I won my court case.

“I have been nominating and the success depends on you the leaders. This is about us not about Peter Obi, it is about Ndigbo. I have seen Gov Umahi, Senator Ekweremadu and Gov Ikpeazu and today I’m here to see you.

“This nomination is about our own area, we can’t continue to say we are not getting this or that, this is opportunity to address some of these things.”

Meanwhile, Obi later visited the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo, where the latter said “Imeobi” the highest decision making body would soon meet and take decision on the forthcoming general elections.
