PDP NCC hails Judiciary on Ikpeazu Supreme Court victory

THE National Caretaker Committee (NCC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said that the Supreme Court ruling which affirmed Okezie Ikpeazu as the duly elected governor of Abia state was a plus to the judiciary.

The spokesman of the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led national leadership of the PDP, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, said in a statement issued in Abuja on Friday that the ruling did not come to the party as a surprise.

It congratulated the PDP governor and urged him to continue with his people oriented services in Abia state.

The statement said: “The news on the affirmation of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, the Executive Governor of Abia State at the Supreme Court today being Friday, May 12, 2017 did not come to us as a surprise. It is a plus to our Judiciary and further reaffirms our faith in the third arm of government as the last hope of all Nigerians.

“We congratulate Governor Ikpeazu for this resounding victory and urge him to continue with his people oriented services in Abia State. It is our believe that the Decision of the Supreme Court has finally put an end to all litigation on the Outcome of the Gubernatorial Election of 2015.

“Consequently, we call on all parties in the Case to move forward by working together as members of the PDP family in order to deliver on our mandate and social contract with the people of Abia State.

“To the good people of Abia State, we say congratulations for standing strong with the Governor during this trying times and with our great Party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“The National Caretaker Committee believes in your ability to work cordially with the Executive Governor now that the final verdict has been delivered by the Supreme Court.”

The NCC also on behalf of the party members nationwide congratulated Senator Ike Ekweremadu, the Deputy Senate President on the occasion of his 55th birthday.

It said it was proud of his achievements as one of the pillars of the PDP, working with all the stakeholders to revive, rejuvenate and move the party to greater heights.

“We believe in his leadership qualities and urge him to continue with his services to humanity. We wish him good health, long life and more years of fruitful service to our fatherland,” the statement said.
