PDP has learnt its lesson, poised to win 2023 elections, says Ortom

Published by

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom on Wednesday said that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has learned its lesson and resolved to serve as a beacon of hope for the nation’s democracy.

Governor Ortom stated this while interacting with newsmen on his return from Abuja where he attended an expanded stakeholder meeting as well as that of the PDP Governors Forum.

The governor who said that the ruling party, the All Progressive Congress has failed Nigerians in all aspects including security, economy and other areas of life said that PDP is ready to provide good governance.

He accused politicians of creating a state of insecurity in order to manipulate elections.

The governor further said that the nation has the capacity to have electronic transmission of election results and stressed that the time has come to discontinue manual voting which he said was capable to deny voters the right to vote and be counted.

On e registration of PDP, governor Ortom said that the e-registration of PDP members will go a long way to entrench a real and truly democratic process which will culminate into the election in 2023.

Asked of PDP target in the coming PDP membership registration in the state, especially that APC in the state claimed to have a huge number of registered members, Governor Ortom said the claim was a 419 move by the party but aimed at rigging in future elections.

He stated that PDP in Benue in the 2019 general elections won the governorship, three senatorial seats, seven House of Representatives seats among others.

This is how they (APC) want to start rigging. We are not going to give them an inch. APC cannot conduct common ward congresses. Did you hear any rancour when we conducted our congresses? Their claim of millions of membership is fraud. We are equal to the task.

“For us here in the State, we will be fully mobilized, anyone that comes to rig election in 2023, should say his last prayer. You cannot rig where we are in the majority. It is impossible,” governor Ortom fumed.
