A group with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), PDP Professionals for the Defense Integrity and Equity, has rejected former governor of Benue State, Mr Gabriel Suswan, as chairman of PDP electoral panel for the coming National Convention, slated to hold on December 9, 2017 in Abuja.
The group made this position known on Sunday in an open letter written to the PDP National chairman, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, saying Suswan was surely not a “symbol of unbiased purity,” and, therefore, could not produce a free and fair convention for the party.
According to the group, in a letter signed by its chairman, Barrister Tichus Zungeru, Suswan is a known ally and sworn friend of the Rivers State governor, Mr Nyesom Wike, who it said does not hide his brazen sponsorship of an aspirant to the party’s chairmanship race, Hon. Uche Secondus.
The group said it did not need a soothsayer with such an obviously compromised scenario to know how Mr Suswan would behave as Chairman of such a very important Committee.
Part of the petition reads: “Mr Suswan’s appointment is, therefore, unacceptable to us . It is very flawed, erroneous, deliberately designed to arrive at a predetermined solution.
“We, therefore, demand that National Caretaker Committee should strike of his name immediately and replace him with a more ethically responsible and wholesome personality.”
