The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto State has condemned the recent banditry attacks in Shagari Local Government Area and other parts of the state, which have claimed several lives, injured many, and forced hundreds of residents to flee their homes.
The villages affected by the attacks include Aske Dodo, Tungar Barke, Jandutse, Lungu, Tungar Doruwa, Zango, Yan Yandu, Tungar Na’anza, and Ila. Many displaced residents are now seeking refuge in nearby towns.

In a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Hassan Sahabi Sanyinnawal, the PDP called on the Sokoto State Government to urgently strengthen security in the affected areas, deploy adequate personnel to protect lives and property, and provide relief materials to the victims.
The party further urged the government to review its spending priorities, suggesting that resources currently allocated to infrastructure projects such as roundabouts and fences should be redirected toward addressing insecurity across the state.
“We demand a thorough investigation into these attacks and the prosecution of those behind them,” the statement read.
“We stand with the affected communities, pray for the safe return of those abducted, and call on all Nigerians to condemn these acts of violence.”
