THE Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate in Osun State has said that Workers in Osun State will ease a sigh of relief when he is voted in as the governor of the state, as payment of their salaries and pensioners arrears will be his priority.
He said this in Osogbo while expressing his concern over the non-payment of workers salaries and pensioners arrears for several months, which according to him “is an act of insincerity and insensitivity to workers’ plight and lack of commitment to workers’ welfare in the state by the government.”
Osun State has enough funds to pay workers’ salaries, but the reason workers and pensioners can’t be paid is because of misappropriation of the available funds, and lack of sense of the development of human capacity and resources in the state,” Omisore said.
He wondered how the state will be indebted to the tune of 175 billion, and “yet the workers’ salaries and pensioners arrears will not be paid if the state government is prudent enough in the management of the state resources. Even, God said workers are due of their wages,” Omisore said.
This he said was the reason people were dumping the ruling party, the APC, “into a more focused SDP,” saying, “You can see in the last few days now, people are decamping from the APC to SDP, because they need people of my character and experience considering my past records looking forward to Omisore to salvage them.

“If it is going to be business as usual, people will not be desperate for change, everything about me is premised on bringing people out of the doldrums a save Osun State from collapse,” Omisore said.
To this end, Omisore said he had gotten enough experience as a former deputy governor of Osun State, and as the chairman of the appropriation committee in the Senate to bring the state out of ruins. “And as you know, most of these debts are inflated, they are part of the money taking out of the state in capital flight,” he noted.
“I’ve gotten the machinery, I’ve studied the finances, the loans and the bonds and I’ve seen how I can find my way around it, that is my own formula of running the government. The issue of salaries is mor germane.
“It is less than N2 billion to pay salaries in Osun State, but the government of the day is not just geared towards payment of salaries, but preferred to pay for contracts, over-inflated contracts and relating with contractors who have nothing to do in Osun State. Our commonwealth is being taken to Lagos and beyond.
Hence, Omisore said, it would not be business as usual if he becomes the State governor, as he is out on the rescue mission in the state, while also promising that, beyond the state workers and pensioners, all the people of Osun State will enjoy his tenure.
