Palliatives: PDP chieftain donates 3,000 bags of rice to Osun Central members

The leadership of Osun Central Senatorial District of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has lauded a chieftain of the party, Ibraheem Adekunle, for donating 3,000 bags of rice to members of the party in the district.

The food items are said to be palliatives for PDP members in Osun Central, comprising 10 local government areas, aimed at cushioning the effects of the harsh economy on them.

The items were received by the Osun Central Senatorial Youth Leader, Lukman Akintunde, and the PDP Chairman, Olorunda Local Government, Mr. Amzat Ademola, at the PDP State Secretariat in Osogbo, Osun State, on Saturday.

While presenting the food items, the South West Zonal PDP Youth Leader, Mr. Seyi Bamidele, said Adekunle, despite recently joining the party, was moved to provide succor for the people due to the economic crisis that followed the removal of the petrol subsidy by the Federal Government.

Adekunle, who called on well-meaning members of the party to support Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration in addressing rising poverty among the people due to the increase in pump prices, stated readiness to do more in providing succor for the needy in Osun State.

He further said the food items would be distributed to all the wards in the Osun Central Senatorial District.

“The current economic realities have made it necessary for people with the means to assist the government in meeting the populace’s needs. This gesture is to support our government, Ademola Adeleke, who is doing a lot for the people. People with the means must also come around and support this administration to provide more palliatives for the people.

“We have 3,000 bags here, and they will be distributed to all the wards in the Osun Central Senatorial District for PDP members,” Adekunle said.

Responding, Osun Central PDP Youth Leader Akintunde, who said the items would be distributed to all wards in the Senatorial District, “lauds the donor for the initiative.”
