OYSCATECH management assures students of prompt NYSC mobilisation

The management of Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology (OYSCATECH), Igboora, has assured concerned students from the Faculty of Management who experienced delay in their mobilisation for the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) that they will soon be mobilised.

The Rector, Professor Akinola Akinlabi, explained that the delay in the accreditation of some of the programmes was as a result of COVID-19 lock down which prevented the past management from inviting the supervising body over polytechnics in Nigeria to visit the institution for the accreditation exercise then.

According to the Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Opeyemi Olawore, the new management under the leadership of Professor Akinlabi, eventually secured the accreditation of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) for the accreditation of Higher National Diploma programmes in the Faculty of Management, while efforts are on the way to normalise the shortcomings as a result of the delayed accreditation.

The Rector revealed that students of Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora since 2014 had been enjoying prompt and regular mobilisation for the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

He appealed to the affected students to exercise a little more patience as efforts of the management in this direction will soon yield positive result.

He further revealed that management will not renege in ensuring prompt accreditation of the institution programmes.

Professor Akinlabi pointed out that between June 3 and 5, 2024, the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) visited the institution for resource inspection of 13 programmes and institutional accreditation.

Professor Akinlabi promised to update stakeholders as soon as the management’s effort yield positive result.
