OYSCATECH introduces eight new programmes as NBTE visits college for accreditation

The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) team from Kaduna has rounded up the resource inspection and verification visitation to the Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora recently.

The NBTE visitation was geared towards the introduction of eight new

in addition to 21 existing programmes of the college.

Speaking at the interactive session with the NBTE team, the Provost of the College, Professor Gbemiga Adewale, who gave reasons for the NBTE invitation, revealed that the teeming number of Nigerian youths who desired tertiary education could hardly matriculate due to inadequate spaces in tertiary institutions and lack of expansion of facilities in various tertiary institutions in the country. Professor Adewale noted that these challenges, among others, have necessitated the need for the introduction of new programmes in the college.

According to the provost, the new programmes include: Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Food Technology, Business Administration, and Statistics. Others are Horticultural Technology, Cooperative Economics and Management and Office Technology and Management.

In his remarks, the NBTE team leader, Mallam Musa Isgogo, hinted that the visit was aimed at giving quality assurance in order for the college to mount the programmes. Mallam Isgogo explained that the college was well positioned with some of her programmes, such as Food Technology, Cooperative Economics and Management, Entrepreneurship and facilities like fish ponds, bakery, poultry and food processing facilities that could provide solutions to problems within the community and as well tackle youth unemployment.

The College Registrar, Mr Niyi Fehintola, who appreciated the NBTE team on behalf of the Governing Council, Management, Academic Board, Staff and Students commended the NBTE for its regular support to the institution, while he solicited for more of their assistance.
