Oyo set to expand Agbeni, Ogunpa market road

Plans to expand the Agodi-Beere-Gege-Agbeni-Ogunpa-Dugbe road in Ibadan, are underway.

This followed the sensitization of residents of the area, especially owners of stalls at Agbeni and Ogunpa market by Governor Abiola Ajimobi, on Monday.

Ajimobi in several conversations with the traders said the expansion of the road, set to commence, would ease traffic in and out of especially the usually clogged market road.

While acknowledging the hardship faced in plying the road overtime, Ajimobi sought cooperation and understanding with the contractors when works commence.

Furthermore, he stated that the state government had secured bond to complete the project.
He reiterated the commitment of the state government to building infrastructure that eases business and commercial activities in the state.

Ajimobi also asserted the resolve to see out ongoing road projects in the state before the expiration of his second term in office.

“With the joy in their faces (traders) for this development, we are happy that we have made the right decision in picking this project, our government will always embark upon people-oriented projects which we are sure will always bring relief to our people.”

“Count the number of people that will gain from the project, skilled and unskilled workers, not to talk of road users that will have smooth passage after the road has been completed.

We must look at the joy of the majority that will benefit from the project.”

Noting the hardship faced in the area overtime, traders and passers-by chorused the expediency of expansion of the road, calling on government to urgently fix the road, as promised.
