Oyo Scout Council installs Adekanmbi as president

The Scout Association of Nigeria, Oyo State Scout Council, has appointed Honourable Abimbola Adekanmbi, the former Deputy Chief of Staff and Commissioner for Finance and Budget in Oyo State, as the new president of the Oyo State Scout Council.

Adekanmbi, who also chairs the committee overseeing the upgrade of the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport in Alakia, Ibadan, was formally inducted as the state president during a ceremony that included the Founder’s Day celebration and the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Oyo State Scout Council, held at the Oyo Scout headquarters in Agodi, Ibadan, Oyo State, on Saturday.

During the investiture, the Scout executives decorated Adekanmbi as the president of the Oyo Scout Council. Following his induction, the newly installed president led the scouts in honouring the founder of the organisation, Lord Robert Baden Powell, as part of the activities to commemorate Powell’s Day.

In his remarks, Adekanmbi expressed his delight at his new role, promising to leverage the reputable organisation’s policies and integrity while adding value and creating more opportunities for the development of the Oyo State Scout Council and beyond.

He also committed to supporting the younger generation in the organisation through educational initiatives and skills acquisition. Additionally, he urged the scouts to remain committed to the organisation and serve as positive ambassadors.

“I am impressed with the young kids; they are promising. I assure you that I will give my best to impact lives, just as we have been doing in other areas through education and skill acquisition.

“My nomination is not influenced by politics or any special preferences. The organisation has the best reasons for my investiture as president. My goal is to make a significant impact within the organisation and set a lasting record in its history,” he added.

He also urged young Nigerians to engage in community service and uphold the values of the Scout Association.
