Oyo Police Command’s DCP, Adejobi, laid to rest in Osun

Dignitaries from all walks of life on Saturday paid their last respects to the late Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations in the Oyo State Police Command, Akinade Olusegun Adejobi, as family and friends were enjoined to see him as resting until the day of resurrection.

The funeral service was held at Saint Peter’s Anglican Church, Orile-Owu, the hometown of the Adejobi Royal Dynasty in Osun State.

Orile-Owu came to life as serving and retired police officers converged to bid farewell to DCP Adejobi, also a crown prince.

Senior police officers present at the funeral service included the Commissioner of Police, Johnson Adenola of Oyo State Command; CP Jimoh Moshood of Lagos State Command; Special Adviser on Security to the Oyo State governor, CP Fatai Owoseni; several other senior police officers; an expatriate, Mr. P.K. Sham; and the South-West chairman of the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), Mr. Samuel Adams, among many others.

The Oyo CP’s wife, Mrs. Taibat Adenola, also led members of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA) to the event.

The family of the deceased police officer, including his wife, children, and younger female sibling, was led by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, his brother.

At the commencement of the funeral service, the casket containing the body of the late police officer was brought in by eight police officers in a burial parade, after which two guards of honour gave salutes.

Thereafter, another guard of honour marched to the casket, and a police cap, pair of shoes, and a sword were placed on the police flag laid on it, indicating that the police officer died in active service.

Speaking on the topic “Victory Over the Power of Death,” in his sermon with 1 Corinthians 15:54-56 as the text, the Bishop of Oke-Osun Diocese of St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Orile-Owu, Rt Revd O.A. Fabuluje, affirmed that every human must die, with no shortcut to it.

The Bishop used 1 Thessalonians 4:13 to enjoin the family not to be sorrowful like those who have no hope.

He made them understand that as believers, children of God do not die but only sleep and will resurrect at the second coming of Jesus Christ to reign with Him.

The Bishop also spoke on the words of comfort given by Jesus Christ in John 14, where He encouraged the people not to allow their hearts to be troubled, giving them hope of dwelling with Him after death.

In his words of encouragement, the Bishop said, “We share in the pains of the Royal Dynasty of Adejobi and offer our deepest condolences to you all. It is indeed a sad moment.”

Commiserating with the Inspector General of Police, Dr. Kayode Egbetokun; the Commissioners of Police present; the FPRO; the entire Nigeria Police Force; and the wife and children of the deceased, Rt Revd Fabuluje prayed for God’s comfort for all of them.
