Oyo lawmaker distributes over 5,000 bags of fertilizers to rural farmers

Driven by mission to support President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and a commitment to enhancing food sufficiency, an All Progressives Congress (APC), lawmaker representing the Ido /Ibarapa East Federal Constituency, Remi Oseni has distributed at least 5,206 bags of fertilizers to rural farmers across the constituency.

The distribution, which took place at Remi Oseni’s Constituency office in Ibadan , was aimed at boosting agricultural productivity in the constituency .

Speaking during the event, Oseni who is also the Chairman , House Committee on the Federal Road Maintenance Agency , FERMA emphasized the importance of addressing food security challenges by encouraging and empowering rural farmers.

The lawmaker noted that the initiative is expected to boost the farmers’ yields, thereby enhancing food production and sufficiency.

He highlighted his commitment to empowering his constituents, citing past initiatives and pledging to continue such efforts in the coming weeks.

“The primary objective of this initiative is to fulfill the desired agenda of President Bola Tinubu, in his renewed hope agenda for making life easy for our people, particularly in the area of agriculture, eradication of poverty, and promotion of prosperity in the country.

“One of the problems we have today is food security. One way to alleviate it is to provide fertilizers to our farmers.

“This is expected to boost their yields, thereby enhancing food production and sufficiency.

“I however advise beneficiaries to apply the fertilizers on their farmlands as they have been trained on how to apply it on their farmlands while I will also advise them not to sell the fertilizers given to them today ,but to use on their farmlands.”

Also speaking at the event, The Onido of Ido land , Oba Gbolagade Babalola (Gbadewolu 1) appreciated the lawmaker for the gesture adding that the fertilizers distributed will help promote farming in the constituency.

The monarch however urged the beneficiaries not to sell fertilizers given to them but apply on their various farmlands.

Also in an interview with Nigerian Tribune , one of the beneficiaries, and chairman Nigeria Cassava Association, in Ido local government, Oladipo Nurudeen appreciate Oseni for the initiative he added that fertilizer being an essential thing to a farmer will help farming of farmers in the constituency.
