In commemoration of World Environment Day 2026, which held on June 5, NACCIMA Youth Entrepreneurs (NYE) and the Oyo State government through the state’s Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, have flagged off the NYE Oyo 1 Million Trees Project.

The initiative, according to NYE Oyo, is part of the development blueprint of the National President of NACCIMA, Dr. Jani Ibrahim FNSE, OON.

The event began with a symbolic tree planting exercise on the Ministry’s premises in Ibadan, marking the beginning of an ambitious environmental sustainability initiative aimed at contributing to climate resilience, environmental restoration, and a greener Oyo State.

Present at the event are the Immediate Past National Coordinator and Pioneer State Coordinator of NYE Oyo, Ambassador Segun Bolaji; National Publicity Secretary of NYE and Current State Coordinator of NYE Oyo, Amb. Rotimi Olaoluwa; Immediate Past State Coordinator of NYE Oyo, Mr Femi Emmanuel and Publicity Secretary of NYE Oyo, Mr. Ayomide Jegede.

As part of the ceremony, Amb. Rotimi Olaoluwa planted a tree in honour of President of NACCIMA, Jani Ibrahim, while Ambassador Segun Bolaji dedicated the tree he planted to the memory of an icon and mother of NACCIMA Youth Entrepreneurs, Late Iyalode Alaba Lawson, also Mr Femi Emmanuel planted a tree in honour of President of OYCCIMA, Esv. Niran Adewoyin.

The event demonstrated NYE Oyo’s commitment to environmental sustainability and its vision of planting One Million Trees across Oyo State. With the support of the Oyo State Government and the approval of 900 hectares of land across the farm settlement in the State for the initiative, the project is positioned to become one of the most ambitious youth-led environmental sustainability programmes in the state, contributing significantly to climate action, environmental restoration, and a greener future for generations to come.

Lastly, NYE Oyo’s sincere appreciation goes to one of their leaders in the Chamber movement, Prince Bayo Ikujenyo for his tremendous support by donating 5000 seedlings of Eucalyptus trees towards this laudable project.
