The outgoing chairperson of FIDA in Oyo State, Barrister Olusola Sulayman, has called on every Nigerian to lend their voice to the fight against all forms of violence against women and girls, asking for continuous collaboration among relevant stakeholders.

She made the call at her end-of-tenure dinner which also marked the end of the 2024 annual Law week which held at the Afe Babalola Bar Centre, Iyaganku Ibadan, where she encouraged people to continue to support Oyo FIDA Oyo and remain relentless in the promotion of the rights and betterment of women and children wherever they may find themselves.

Barrister Sulayman while speaking about activities that marked the 2024 law week said FIDA supported orphans at Jesus’s Kids home at Iwo Road where children with Down syndrome get care and also held a massive sensitisation for people which kickstarted at the Okere of Saki, Oba Khalid Olabisi’s palace as well as an interactive engagement at Sango Market and Oja Adabo, on the need for women facing sexual and gender-based violence to speak up and seek for help.

She noted that it is a collective responsibility to end sexual and gender-based violence while acknowledging the role of the judiciary in the fight against SGBV.

She attributed her success in piloting the affairs of FIDA from December 9, 2021 to December 2024 to the grace of God, adding that it was a wonderful period of learning and growth for her and the association.

She added that her executive members have worked tirelessly to see that every project and plan saw the light of day and deserves to be commended, lastly giving kudos partners and donors who contributed immensely to the success of all our projects during my period of service.
