Oyo commissioner lauds AMIS’ students preparation for external exams

Published by

The Oyo State Commissioner for Education, Professor Salihu Abdul Waheed, has commended the Association of Model Islamic Schools Nigeria (AMIS) for its commitment to promoting academic excellence among students of its member schools.

Professor Abdul Waheed particularly applauded AMIS for organizing mock examinations yearly for its students to prepare them well for external examinations.

The commissioner gave the commendation when the chairman of the association for the South West and Kwara State, Alhaji Muhibudeen Qazeem, led a delegation to pay him a courtesy visit in his office in Ibadan.

The delegation used the opportunity to update the commissioner on AMIS’ mock examinations in Oyo State as well as in other South West states and Kwara State for the year 2024.

It also provided a general appraisal of the standard of education in Oyo State, especially in all model Islamic schools in the state.

In the last two weeks, AMIS conducted this year’s editions of its mock examinations for primary and Junior Secondary School III students across the South West and Kwara State.

The Chief Examiner for the seven states, Malam Dhulkifli Olabiyi, visited various examination venues in about six local government areas of Oyo State for the primary mock examination on Saturday, March 9, and for the JSS III mock examination on Saturday, March 16, 2024, to assess the situations there.

Olabiyi, who is the secretary of the association in Oyo State, in a message to all the students, warned of the dangers of examination malpractice and emphasized the benefits of self-confidence and adequate preparation for all tests of knowledge and indeed all human endeavors.

Tomorrow (Saturday), the AMIS JSS III students across the zone and in Kwara State will be tested in English Studies, Basic Science and Technology, and Pre-Vocational Studies, having been tested in Mathematics, Business Studies, and Islamic Studies/National Value last Saturday.

According to Olabiyi, the mock examinations, apart from preparing the students for outstanding performance in external examinations, are also meant to unite all AMIS schools throughout the seven states for the promotion of Islamic heritage.
