Over 1,000 residents of Ise-Orun Local Government Area of Ekiti State have benefited from a free medical outreach jointly organised by three aides of Governor Biodun Oyebanji to support the administration’s drive for quality and accessible healthcare services.
The organisers include, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor on Farm Settlement and Agriculture, Tope Ajewole; SSA on Public Advocacy, Dr. Abdul Ayolo and the SSA on Ekiti State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Lateef Sunmonu.
Beneficiaries received free blood sugar, eye and blood pressure tests, dental surgeries, drugs and consultations from medical experts drawn from the state health sector.
Speaking during the programme, the organisers explained that the initiative was carried out to ensure more people have access to qualitative healthcare services, which is one of the major cardinal agenda of the governor.
They appealed to beneficiaries to shun self-medication and patronise government health facilities to undergo necessary check-ups that could lead to early detection and prevention of diseases that could be life-threatening.

One of the organisers, Ajewole said: “The mission objectives are to expand access to care, reduce out-of-pocket costs, promote health education and support Governor Oyebanji’s agenda of quality health for all.
“It is about bringing healthcare to the doorstep of our people. No one should be denied care because of cost or distance.”
On his part, Dr. Ayolo, said the health mission had ensured early detection of some diseases among beneficiaries for necessary attention.
The technical adviser to the governor on Power and Electrification, Philip Atere, said Oyebanji alone cannot attend to all the needs of the people, hence the need for all stakeholders to complement his efforts.
The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the organisers for the opportunity, which they described as ‘golden’ considering the current economic hardship and high cost of drugs.
