The chairman/chief executive officer (CEO), New Year Mega Lottery (NYML), Sunday Adeleye, has revealed the plans of his company to see to the emergence of 50 millionaires every year with the possibility to play the world’s biggest lotteries online and offline.
While speaking with journalists during launching of the 2024 New Year Mega Lottery which was held on Thursday at the VIP Lounge of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Abuja, Adeleye, an aide to the Minister of Sports Development, said the lottery is part of his contribution to develop and grow the economy.
Adeleye, whose company is also the title sponsor of Nigeria’s third-tier football club championship, the Nationwide League One (NLO), said the present situation of the economy has necessitated creating job opportunities to bring Nigerians out of poverty.
He said packages such as instant scratch and win, mega draw, state mega puzzle, campus fare, pocket moni, back to school moni, mega japa amongst others will provide Nigerians with array of opportunities to use their hand to rewrite their stories and bade poverty goodbye.
“Considering the situation of our economy right now, we thought about creating jobs, and then, of course, the opportunity that Nigerians need to embrace to get out of poverty.
“Lottery was part of the good causes that were used to build the US, the United Kingdom and the Western world. So why can’t we also practice lottery in Nigeria to develop our economy?
“You agree with me today, that with New Year Mega-Luxury, the numbers of agents, sales point agents, distributors and mega-agents that we have today, jobs were created, which is over 30,000 jobs today. Which means we are adding and supporting what Nigerian government is doing.
“We have no other country than Nigeria, and this is the best way we think we can also contribute our quota in the development of our great country, Nigeria,” the former technical director, Athletic Federation of Nigeria (AFN) said.
Also speaking on the impact of his company’s sponsorship on NLO, Adeleye said, “Nationwide League is the biggest league in the world and it should be celebrated. That was why we came up and said, we want to be a partner.
“And you agree with me today that the grassroots need support in the Nigerian footballing system. That is why we are coming in to support the grassroots through New Year Mega-Lottery and see how we can support the system to boost football.
“We are not in sports betting, but we are into lottery. So we can go into football, we can go into any other sports. Of course, we are going to go into entertainment, we are going to go into different categories of entertainment because we classify lottery as entertainment as well.
“So, we are going to do that to see how we can contribute our quota in developing Nigeria and growing the country’s economy.”
