Osun Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on Wednesday, assured citizens that his administration would not falter in its commitment to delivering democratic dividends as the state celebrated its 34th anniversary.
Speaking in Osogbo, the governor declared his administration had brought stability to the public service and remained “unshaken and undisturbed,” standing firmly with the people who hold the ultimate power.
“Since I assumed office, our government has implemented what many classed as impossible. I am proud to declare today that our administration has stabilised the public service by granting the civil servants and pensioners their due entitlements. Osun workers and pensioners appreciate our deep care and obsession with their welfare,” Governor Adeleke stated.

The governor emphasised that his government is addressing the state’s significant infrastructure deficit, which he estimated at around 80% when he took office in 2022.
He argued that no society can achieve economic growth without a strong infrastructure base.
“Our government took up the challenge and targeted transforming our major cities and towns into economic and social hubs. We are building sustainable roads and bridges across the state,” he said, adding that the goal is to attract investors.
Adeleke further detailed the broad scope of his administration’s initiatives, which extend beyond infrastructure.
He mentioned reviewing the business climate to make it more appealing to investors, harmonising tax systems, and digitizing the investment portal.
The governor also spoke about new policy territories, highlighting the state’s digital economy boosted by new ICT and tech innovation policies.
He announced the ongoing process of setting up a Digital Economy Advisory Board, with the aim of positioning Osun as a major digital hub in the South West.
Regarding the energy sector, Adeleke noted the passage of a new electricity market system law to enhance power generation and regulate the relationship between power distributors and consumers.
In the mining sector, he said, “Osun state has officially become a shareholder in the Segilola Gold project,” and that the state’s mining licenses are being upgraded to benefit the people.
The governor also touched on reforms in sports and tourism, with plans for a five-star stadium and a decentralized tourism development system.
In the social sector, he highlighted the strengthening of state universities, rehabilitation of schools, and efforts to address the human development needs of teachers.
“We upgraded our health centers, leading to Osun winning the best state on access to primary health care in the South West,” he added.
Concluding his address, Governor Adeleke tasked other political actors to prioritize the welfare of the people.
“We must never play politics with the welfare of the public. Osun is our common state. It is not politics to wilfully punish voters and the public,” he cautioned.
He expressed gratitude for the public’s support, which he attributed to his administration’s achievements.
Similarly, the Commissioner for Regional Integration and Special Duties, Dr. B. T. Salam, in his own speech, affirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to the five-point action plan.
He noted that the state has recorded “huge success” in critical sectors such as health, infrastructure, agriculture, security, education, and workers’ welfare, positioning Osun “on a high pedestal in the comity of States.“
