The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressive Congress (APC), on Monday upturned the disqualification of Senator Mudashiru Hussain by the screening committee, which hitherto restrained him from participating in Tuesday’s primary exercise, where the candidate of the party for July 8 bye election for Osun West Senatorial District would emerge.
Hussain, who is believed to be the preferred candidate of Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State had on Sunday been disqualified by the national screening committee, headed by Hon Sanusi Garba Rikiji from contesting in the primary election.

The committee hinged his disqualification on his failure to resign his appointment as the Commissioner for Cabinet Matters in the administration of Governor Rauf Aregbesola 30 days before obtaining his nomination form to contest for the seat.
However, the director of publicity, media and strategy of the APC in Osun State, Barrister Kunle Oyatomi yesterday confirmed that Senator Hussain had been cleared by the NWC of the party to partake in the primary election, scheduled to hold Monday.
According to a statement signed by Oyatomi, “the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress had on Monday cleared Senator Mudasiru Hussain to contest the party’s primaries for the Osun West senatorial district holding Tuesday June 13, 2017”.
“This is the outcome of the meeting of the NWC in Abuja which reviewed the decision of the Appeal Panel which had earlier dismissed the appeal filed by Senator Hussain on Sunday”.
“By the regulation of the party, the decision of the NWC of the party is final.”
“Therefore, delegates for the APC West senatorial district primaries are to proceed to the designated centre for the exercise on Tuesday,” the statement added.
Hussain, after his disqualification on Sunday vowed to challenge the decision of the national screening committee, expressing optimism that he would eventually participate in the primary election.
When contacted over the new development, he confirmed his clearance by the NWC in a text message.
