There was wild jubilation in Iwo, at venue of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) primaries for Osun West Senatorial District election on Wednesday when Ademola Adeleke, who decamped from the All Progressive Congress (APC) to the opposition party alighted from his vehicle to participate in the exercise.
Adeleke, a younger brother of Late Senator Isiaka Adeleke, who was one of the aspirants on the platform of the APC had on Tuesday night defected to the PDP.
Tribune Online authoritatively gathered all the aspirants in the PDP, including former Minister of Youth Development, Senator Olasunkanmi Akinlabi and retired Col. Olayiwola Falabi had agreed to step down for Adeleke to fly the ticket of PDP in the July 8, 2017 bye election.
The resolve of the PDP aspirants to step down for Ademola Adeleke was the outcome of the party stakeholders’ meeting from both Senator Ali Modu Sheriff
and Senator Ahmed Makarfi factions in Osun State, which was held in Osogbo residence of a PDP chieftain between Monday night and early hours of Tuesday.
Adeleke, who arrived Iwo Township Stadium, venue of the PDP primaries in a black Sport Utility Vehicle around 11.30am was received warmly as crowd of party supporters hailed him.
As of the time of filing this report, the primaries exercise had not started.
