The founder of Rapture Empowerment International in Osogbo, Osun State, Bishop Shina Olaribigbe, was stabbed to death on Thursday while attempting to settle a domestic dispute between a couple.

Osun State Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola, speaking on the incident, said, “The couple was not living together, though they were not legally separated.”

“The pastor had been intervening in their quarrels, and on this occasion, he was at the wife’s house when the estranged husband arrived.”

“We were told that the husband stabbed the pastor multiple times, killing him. There is suspicion that the husband believed the pastor was having an affair with his wife.”

The incident, which occurred in the early hours of the day, led to mourning and sobbing among the church members of the deceased, who were devastated by the development.

Investigations revealed that Olaribigbe had paid a visit to the couple’s house after learning that the wife, an interpreter at his church located around the BCGA area in Osogbo, had been ill for some days due to a rift with her husband.

It was gathered that the clergyman also intended to settle their differences and had pleaded with them to always prioritize peace before it turned tragic.

However, it was learned that when the husband arrived home and saw the clergyman, he suspected something was going on between them and reportedly stabbed the man of God to death.

An eyewitness account stated that the husband stabbed the pastor in the chest, and he died on the spot. Both the husband and wife are now being interrogated at the Dugbe Divisional Police Station in Osogbo.

Meanwhile, the remains of the deceased have been deposited at the Uniosun Teaching Hospital, Osogbo.
