Osun Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Tuesday, dismissed reports of school kidnappings in the state, describing them as falsehood being spread by enemies of his administration.
The governor, however, charged residents of the state to ignore the reports in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, and urged them to go about their normal activities without fear, stressing that “no stone will be left unturned” to protect schools, pupils, and citizens.
“The public will soon witness a new security plan to strengthen the security of lives and properties in Osun state,” Adeleke said.

Reports of school kidnappings in Osun are false and politically motivated. Fact checks from border areas showed no such incidents occurred,” he added.
According to him, fact-checks across the state and border areas confirmed no case of kidnapping. “I task our people to go about their normal activities without fear,” Adeleke said.
He disclosed that the Ministry of Education and security agencies have already worked out and are implementing a security strategy for schools.
“The said alarm was false and the handiwork of opposition elements seeking to plunge the state into chaos. Parents and guardians should not panic,” the statement read.
Adeleke also announced that Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) abandoned by the previous administration have been refurbished and are ready for deployment to boost security.
“The Oyetola administration inherited the APCs from the Aregbesola administration. The last administration however left them to rot. My government has rehabilitated them,” he said.
The governor warned against incitement to criminal conduct, adding that local intelligence networks are monitoring border towns and have identified hot spots.
