The immediate past caretaker committee chairman of the Atakunmosa West Local Government area of Osun State, Dada Ajibola, has pledged to reposition the local government council for a brighter and more prosperous future for the people of the council area.
He made this promise at an event organised in Osu, the headquarters of the council secretariat by the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in the local government, to officially introduce him and flag off his campaign as the party candidate for the chairmanship position in the forthcoming local government election in the state scheduled for next year.
He was introduced alongside his running mate, Oluwole Oni, as well as candidates for councillorship positions under the party for the area.
Expressing gratitude to the party leadership at both the local and state government levels for giving them the party tickets to vie for those positions, Ajibola noted that he would leverage the foundation he had laid as former caretaker committee chairman of the local government.
According to him, local government is the most accessible level of government to the people, and we shall make it so during our tenure if a mandate is given.
“Our plans are to deliver quality healthcare, robust basic education, good security, welfare, and other essential services, including creating a conducive business environment for our people to thrive in the local government,” he stressed.
While maintaining that his government, if elected, would be committed to the realisation of the vision and mission of the Governor Ademola Adeleke-led administration for grassroots development, Ajibola stated that his policies, programs, and projects shall be aligned with the state government’s broader agenda for the people of the state.
He commended the governor for what he described as outstanding performance across sectors of the economy, soliciting support for his re-election bid as governor.
Ajibola, while citing infrastructural development and better welfare as part of the testaments of Adeleke’s administration, emphasised that the governor’s second term is critical for the continued progress in the state.
He congratulated all the former members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Social Democratic Party (SDP) who he said recently defected to the PDP, urging them to encourage others to leave the parties that “have “caused hardship, hunger, and anger in the land and join the PDP.”
He also thanked his supporters for their steadfast commitment and urged them to intensify their efforts to ensure the party’s victory in the forthcoming local government elections.
