The Chairman of the Mutual Assurance Benefits,l and an aspirant for the Osun State 2026 governorship election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Akin Ogunbiyi on Monday said, he remained the unifying factor among other contenders for the position but, maintained that, “Peradventure, if I’m not picked, I won’t have grudges against anybody “.
Dr. Ogunbiyi made this known in an interview in Osogbo after a meeting with all the party leaders represented by the party chairmen at various local governments in the state to inform them of his ambition.
“If you look at my experience, my age, my politics, you’ll know it’s not a politics of bitterness. If you know my antecedents, I’m the only one who was labelled as doing politics without robbery, and there’s nothing that’s worth dying for, so if I am not picked, I will not have grudges”.
“So, I’m well qualified, when you look at the antecedent, you will see that of all the people that have come out, Akin Ogunbiyi stand tall and by God’s grace I will avail that to the services of Osun State and I will turn the situation around from Osun being called civil servants state to being called the most prosperous and entrepreneurial State in Nigeria.”
“I’m an accomplished young man by the grace of God. I just want to serve my people at this level in Osun State. I have been a member of the Osun Development Association, and we have a masterpiece on how Osun should be developed.”
“Osun should move down from being a civil service state. Osun should be the most prosperous state in Nigeria, despite the fact that we don’t have oil, but we have gold, we have agriculture, we have so many things we can turn into money.
I’m an entrepreneur by God’s grace, and I employ over 5000 people in Nigeria today. This time around, I still pay over 5000 people from my group. I’m the chairman of a mutual benefit group, and I joined politics 10 years ago.”
“It’s only to avail the people what I know. In fact, I went to the University of Yale to go and learn leadership in public places for a whole year in 2017 before I actually came into.”
“So, I’m well qualified, when you look at the antecedent, you will see that of all the people that have come out, Akin Ogunbiyi stand tall and by God’s grace I’ll avail that to the services of Osun State and I will turn the situation around from Osun being called civil servants state to being called the most prosperous and entrepreneurial State in Nigeria. Thank you
Why, addressing the party chairmen, Ogunbiyi said,” Thank you so much. I’m here by the grace of God to inform the party leaders represented by the party chairmen at various local governments that I, Dr Akin Ogunbiyi, will be contesting for the governorship position under the platform of the party.
“I recognise as it is always the party that is the leader and the medium through which any aspiration can actually be actualised.”
“So, this is why I came here. Some couple of weeks back, I did a public declaration by visiting the party Secretariat and meeting with the excos, following up on that is what we have done this morning to officially notify the chairmen of our party that I, Akin Ogunbiyi have interest in the coming election and I’ll be aspiring to be nominated as the candidate for the party for the forthcoming governorship election in 2026.”
“This is the third time I’m aspiring to be the Governor of the state, so I’m not new to them. The last three years I’ve joined APC, they know what I have been doing, so it is nothing new to them.”
“I was well received and we discussed things of importance and will bring progress to APC and ultimately deliver the party ticket, god willing, to me and of course, if we have the party ticket, by God’s grace, we’ll win the election 2026.”
