COMMITTED to resolve the seeming debacle over the decision of a governorship contender on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun, Dr Akin Ogunbiyi to appeal the outcome of the primary election won by Senator Ademola Adeleke, arrangements have been concluded by major stakeholders within the party for a meeting in Abuja on Monday, aimed at brokering peace, Nigerian Tribune investigation has revealed.
It would be recalled that Adeleke, who currently represents Osun West Senatorial District in the National Assembly won the primary election of the main opposition party conducted on the 21st of July by polling 1, 569 votes to defeat Dr Akin Ogunbiyi, who trailed him with 1, 562 votes.
But, Ogunbiyi had rejected the results, contending that the primary exercise was grossly marred by malpractices, just as he vowed to reclaim what he termed his stolen mandate.
However, a credible source within the party informed the Nigerian Tribune that barring any unforeseen circumstance, the leadership of the PDP had perfected moves to hold a crucial parley in Abuja where the seeming rancour and ill-feelings generated by the outcome of the primary exercise would be addressed with a view to fostering cohesion and unity among the rank and file of the party.
According to the source, who is a BoT member of the PDP, attendees expected at the meeting include the national chairman of the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, the governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, members of the Board of Trustees (BoT), the standard bearer of the party in the September 22 governorship poll in Osun, Senator Ademola Adeleke, other gubernatorial aspirants, who contested for the party’s ticket and the Osun State chairman of the party, Hon Soji Adagunodo.

The source further hinted that the Abuja peace meeting scheduled to hold by Monday would also deliberate on fresh ripples precipitated by the nomination of a member of the House of Representatives, Hon Albert Adeogun, representing Ife Federal Constituency as the running mate to Senator Ademola Adeleke.
Findings by our correspondent indicated that some stakeholders within the party were embittered by the failure to carry out necessary consultation before the nomination of Adeogun as the deputy governorship candidate to Adeleke.
