OyetolaAGAINST the backdrop of the September 22 governorship poll in Osun, the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, on Tuesday assured the workers in the state that none of them would lose their job under his government if elected as the governor of the state.

Rather, he maintained that he would build efficient civil service that would place emphasis on human capital development as a veritable tool to fast-track the effective socio-economic growth of the state.

Making these disclosures in Osogbo, the state capital, Oyetola, who described civil service as the bedrock for effective governance contended that “it would be suicidal for any serious leader to undermine the importance of civil servants in delivering the dividend of democracy to the generality of the people.”

According to Oyetola, “all these false claim of loss of job in the civil services is just a political rumor, no government has been so committed to the progress of civil servant, as difficult as the country’s economy was in 2015, we resisted the temptation to sack anybody, as the Chief of Staff to the governor, I have been interfacing with the labour and we have been assuring them that no one will lose job and we are going to continue to ensure that the workers have the best.”

“The governor has persistently assured the workers that he is going to offset the outstanding, everything should not be politics, we have operated the best workers friendly government in the history of the state, no state government in Nigeria jointly allocates revenue with Labour unions, but he Osun to be sure of our commitment, we are jointly taking decision on state revenue through a committee headed by the veteran labour leader Comrade Hassan Sumonu,” Oyetola remarked.

While commenting on his programme for the state, he contended that Aregbesola had done well in the area of infrastructure, saying his administration would expand it and drive investments to create more job in the state, with a view to enhancing aggressive economic development.

Oyetola also promised that his administration would explore more viable potentials to improve the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) generated without increasing tax levies or imposing a burden on the citizenry.
