Osun 2018: Boripe traditional council backs APC governorship candidate, Oyetola

AHEAD the conduct of September 22 governorship poll, in Osun the monarchs, constituting Boripe Traditional Council, on Tuesday threw their weight behind the gubernatorial ambition of the standard bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Gboyega Isiaka Oyetola, contending that with his pedigree as a shrewd administrator, socio-economic developments of the state would be sustained.

The traditional rulers also appealed to those who were aggrieved in the APC by the outcome of the primary election of the July 20 won by Oyetola to forget their individual or collective misgivings in the overall interest of the state.

Addressing a press conference inside the headquarters of Boripe local government council, located in Iragbiji community, the country home of the APC standard bearer, the monarchs namely Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi, Alaagba of Aagba, Oba Rufus Ogunwole, Olona of Ada, Oba Abimbola Abioye and Olororuwo of Ororuwo, Oba Qamaudeen Adeyanju Alawode declared that Oyetola possess the mental capacity and leadership virtues to succeed Governor Rauf Aregbesola.

Reading a prepared text on behalf of Boripe Traditional Council, the Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba Olabomi emphasised that “Alhaji Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola is our son and we affirm that he is very responsible, God-fearing and capable person to occupy the position of the governor of Osun State.”

Describing as unfounded and mischievous insinuation that the APC flag bearer was not in tune with the politics and socio-cultural and economic interests of the people in the state, he maintained that “Oyetola is neither a Lagosian nor a foreigner as some people are saying,” stressing that “he has been a community man, playing active roles in the development of Iragbiji for more than three decades.”

According to Oba Olabomi, “we affirm that our son, Oyetola will address the challenges of workers’ salaries and restate that the cock and bull story of planning to retrench workers is not true. He will not do such things. Rather, it would be life more abundant for the people of our state. We appeal to all those who are aggrieved within the APC, which produced him as the flag bearer to kindly forgive all their perceived enemies in the interest of our state.”

“We have interviewed his family background, his neighbours, friends and acquaintances, other Obas, chiefs and members of the public and found him the most qualified to take Osun State to greater heights. We advised that it through unity that the state can move forward. We stand with Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola as our governor and the people of Osun State will not regret it,” the traditional ruler remarked.
