The Miss Nigeria beauty pageant was one event many Nigerians looked forward to with the prospect of witnessing the emergence of the next beauty queen of the country.
The contest which was the 43rd edition held at Eko Convention Centre, Lagos, and unsurprisingly had favourites from the outset.
Anita Osikhena Osikweme, one of the favourite contestants to the win had appeared to claim the coveted crown going by the adulation she received from the audience.
The decision of the judges however revealed that Anita had to settle for third runner-up position, with the crowd screaming after the announcement was made.
She took her position gracefully and went on to congratulate on stage Etsanyi Tukura representing Taraba State who snatched the prize, thereby exhibiting an uncommon act of maturity. Her reactions after the event further showed how a woman who strives for change should act.
Speaking with R, she discussed her passion to educate and empower the girl child and has a project which pursues these.
