Oshodi crisis: NURTW, RTEAN factional leaders arrested ―Task Force

oshodi crisisLagos State Task Force said that different warring factional leaders of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) trying to foment trouble with their supporters around Mafoluku, Shogunle, Sadiku, Ladipo and Oshodi area of the state have been arrested and are presently undergoing interrogation at the Force headquarters.

Arrested notorious NURTW and RTEAN warring factional leaders, according to the Agency, include ‘Taloo,’ ‘Alayoo’ and ‘Ijee.’

Chairman of the Task Force, SP Olayinka Egbeyemi, made the disclosure on Sunday in a statement made available by the Agency’s spokesperson, Mr. Taofiq Adebayo, while assuring innocent members of the public of safety of lives and properties in entire Oshodi area.

According to Egbeyemi, activities of operatives of NURTW and RTEAN’ across the entire Oshodi area is presently under the checks and control of the Task Force and other security agencies who he said had been “strategically positioned for the  maintenance of peace and orderliness”.

SP Egbeyemi enjoined members of the public to ignore misinformation about “bomb explosion and security alert” around Shogunle and Oshodi trending on various social media thereby creating unnecessary fear amongst traders and residents of the area.

He warned miscreants and hoodlums to desists from causing chaos around Oshodi and the entire parts of the state as anyone arrested would be immediately charged to court for prosecution.

Speaking further, the Task Force boss commended Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for providing security agencies across the state with modernised equipment, calling on members of the public to immediately report any unlawful activities of notorious miscreants and hoodlums to appropriate security agencies through  ‘112’ and ‘767’ which he said are Toll-free.
