Four federal lawmakers on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) formally announced their defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday.
Two of the Senators are from Osun and two are from Akwa Ibom.
The list includes, Senators Francis Fadahunsi and Olubiyi Oluwole, representing Osun East and Osun Central Senatorial Districts, respectively.
The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, who incidentally is from Akwa Ibom state, also announced the defection of two of his other colleagues from his home state: Senators Anieken Bassey and Sampson Ekong, representing Akwa Ibom North East and Akwa Ibom South.
Checks revealed that by the development, the APC now has 70 lawmakers as against the main opposition People’s Democratic Party, which has now dwindled to 28.
The Labour Party has five, while the Social Democratic Party and the All Progressives Grand Alliance have 2 and one lawmaker.
The New Nigerian People’s Party has only one Senator in the Red Chamber.
Further checks revealed that two seats are vacant in the Tenth Senate: Edo Central and Anambra South Senatorial Districts, respectively.
