The governor had written to Acting President Yemi Osinbajo warning against such a move and calling for the case to be handed over to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as it is done in the case of non-members of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).
Lawal had been suspended by President Muhammadu Buhari over shady contract awards under the Presidential Initiative on the North East (PINE) while Oke was hammered over the huge sums of money discovered in an apartment on Osborne Road in Lagos.
The President had set up the committee headed by Vice President Osinbajo and given it a deadline of two weeks to turn in its report.
However, Buhari was unable to take possession of the report before he jetted out of the country for his current medical vacation in the United Kingdom.
Since his departure over two months ago, no action has been on the report, causing Fayose to draw the Acting President’s attention to it in an open letter made available to the media on Sunday.
But a top Presidency who insisted that it should not be quoted told the Nigerian Tribune on Sunday that Nigerians should ignore Governor Fayose, wondering why the media pay attention to him.
The source maintained that there was nothing like sweeping the matter under the carpet since the two top government officials remained suspended.
“The two people remain suspended. So, how is that a sweep?
