As President Bola Ahmed Tinubu marks his second year in office, the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has scored his administration very low on different sectors, describing it as one of the worst in Nigeria’s history since flag independence in 1960.
National Spokesperson of the coalition, Comrade Mark Adebayo, gave this scorecard in a release, a copy of which was made available to newsmen, noting that two years of President Tinubu had recorded severe hunger, with insecurity becoming exacerbated, while youth joblessness had assumed exponential implosion.
Besides, the CUPP chieftain further noted that out-of-school children statistics within the period jumped from 20million to almost 40million, with inflation climbing to over 36%, saying that Nigeria’s diplomatic missions abroad had been inactive because the country had been unable to send ambassadors to represent her, a development which he pointed out had made the country become a sleeping partner in the comity of nations.
“Two years ago, severe hunger came to town in Nigeria through President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Government in its most inhumane identity ascended the throne. Insecurity became exacerbated. Youth joblessness assumed exponential implosion.
“Out of school children statistics jumped from twenty million to almost forty million. Inflation has leapt to over 36%. Nigeria’s diplomatic missions abroad have been inactive because no Ambassadors to represent the country have been sent. Nigeria has become a sleeping partner in the comity of nations.
“The people in Benue and Plateau states and other parts of the country are being murdered cold-blooded en masse on a daily basis by an invading army of terrorists, killer herders, and bold kidnappers. Even Abuja, the seat of government, is not safe from these predators who daily prey on innocent and defenceless Nigerians,” he said.
On health, the CUPP spokesperson said the sector was now worse than mere consulting centres, declaring that the country’s medicare had totally collapsed.
According to him, the poor masses now bear the heavy burden of Nigeria’s health sector crises, alleging that the president and his cabinet, as well as their families, instead, find solace abroad for medical treatment, “without any significant intervention from government, which makes Nigerians die unnecessarily from treatable illnesses.”
This was just as he equally knocked the Tinubu’s administration on education, debt portfolio, saying that the country’s education sector was in a speedy retreat, while her debt portfolio, which he said had reached scandalous heights and was expected to reach a whopping N188 trillion by the end of 2025.
Adebayo expressed worries over what had become of the “billions of dollars accruing to the government in the aftermath of the wicked removal of fuel subsidy on day one of Tinubu’s administration, saying, notwithstanding the administration “is still asking to borrow more.”
CUPP spokesperson, while describing the move as “a deliberate impoverishment policy to mortgage Nigeria’s future up to five generations or more just to satisfy their own avarice and greed,” added that amid all these, “President Tinubu only concerns himself with seriously campaigning for his second term ambition whilst governance has been relegated to secondary consideration within less than two years in power.”
“The President has started actively campaigning for a second term for the past six months, which is expressly in clear violation of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 199,9 as amended and the Electoral Act. It is impunity at its crudest. His billboards and posters are all over the place for months ago.
“Nigerians are no longer free to express themselves, especially on social media, due to the government’s misuse of power to suppress dissent through the security agencies. The civic space is being stifled unnecessarily in a flagrant totalitarian manner,” he said.
Adebayo pointedly declared that Nigerians were already tired of President Tinubu, saying the country has rejected what he described as his (Tinubu) atrocious economic and anti-people policies for the past two years. According to him, the people were aware that a second term for him would be extremely disastrous and are already looking out for a credible alternative to replace him come 2027.
He said as it, the opposition in the country was poised to avail Nigerians a competent, patriotic, compassionate, creative president with a revolutionary mindset to fix the country’s myriads of problem within the shortest possible time, warning that “things can only get worse for as long as he remains in power as Nigeria’s president.”
“Nigerians are already tired of this government and have clearly rejected President Bola Tinubu due to his atrocious economic and anti-people policies for the past two years.
“Nigerians are aware that a second term for President Tinubu would be extremely disastrous and are already looking out for a credible alternative to replace him in 2027. Nigerians cannot afford for affliction to rise a second time.
