As the collation of final results from the Saturday gubernatorial elections in Ondo State continues, the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, is leading by a wide margin.
According to results from 13 of the 18 local governments announced so far by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Aiyedatiwa has polled 259,851 votes ahead of his closest rival and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Agboola Ajayi, who scored 81,031 votes.
By margin, the PDP’s Ajayi currently has 178,820 votes to close the gap between himself and Aiyedatiwa in the collation exercise led by the Returning Officer and Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Lokoja, Prof Olayemi Akinwunmi.
However, there are still five local governments away from completion of the final collation exercise ongoing at the INEC office in Akure, the state capital.
