The House of Representatives member for Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency, Festus Akingbaso, has flaged off the construction of multiple million naira ultra-modern civic center in Idanre in Idanre local government area of Ondo.
Speaking on the intervention, Akingbaso stressed the importance of infrastructural development as it contributes to citizens well being and economic growth of the area.
He explained that the civic center would be a state-of-the-art facility, a multipurpose center that stands a chance of creating job opportunities and increasing socio-economic activities in the area and beyond.
He said the civic center will be the first of its kind in the community and local government area will be completed soon, describing the project as on his fulfillment of campaign promise to the people of Idanre.
He emphasized that the civic centre would foster unity, promote cultural values, and provide a venue for hosting important community events, saying “I am happy that Idanre will have a civic centre.
He noted that he attracted the civic center in fulfillment of his campaign promises to his people, who were in dire need of both civic center, roads, electricity and other life touching projects.
“This is one of the promises I made during my campaign, and I will personally monitor the project to ensure its speedy completion.
“This project will foster unity and strengthen our bond as an indivisible community. It gives me joy that the work has commenced.” he said
He also urged the community to support and cooperate with the contractor to ensure smooth execution of the project.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Kola Ademujimi, a former Chief of Staff to a former governor Olusegun Mimiko, commended Akingbaso for his commitment to the development of Idanre.
He said the civic center remains very symbolic, saying when completed, it would be one of the best in Ondo state, and shall serve many generations, especially in socio-economic development wise.
He stressed the need to harness the community’s tourism potential to attract visitors and boost local development.
“Hon. Festus Akingbaso is a performer who is genuinely concerned about the development of Idanre and other communities in his constituency.
“We, the people of Idanre, commend him for this civic centre and look forward to more impactful projects.” Ademujimi said.
The ceremony was attended by prominent indigenes of Idanre, including market women, youth groups, politicians, and other stakeholders, who expressed support and appreciation for the initiative.
The project, once completed, is expected to become a landmark for community gatherings and a symbol of unity for the people of Idanre.
