The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Olugbenga Adeyanju, who made the disclosure to newsmen in Monday said the exercise is in compliance with the IG directives.
Adeyanju disclosed that the State Command has set up a task force Committee headed by Assistant Commissioner of Police Alani Adegoke, DSP Emmanuel Ojemu and ASP Dapo Omomuwasan.
The police boss, however, asked those in possession of illegal arms in the state to surrender to a member of the committee within the next 21 days.

“We wish to inform members of the public that in compliance with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, we are mopping up illegal firearms and ammunition.
“All illegal arms must be submitted within the next 21 days and those who fail to comply with this directive willingly may find themselves to blame
“All illegal firearms are to be submitted to the nearest police officer in their domain; anyone caught with an illegal firearm will be sanctioned after the ultimatum.”
