Ondo guber: We’ve commenced mobilisation to win — PDP youth

Ahead of the November governorship election in Ondo State, the youth leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State have declared that the party will reclaim the state in the election.

The youth, who expressed their readiness to mobilize votes for the party’s candidate, Hon. Agboola Ajayi, stated that a workable machinery has already been established across the 18 local government areas of the state to ensure effective mobilization of youth for Ajayi’s victory at the polls.

Speaking during the inauguration of the PDP youth leaders for the November 16 governorship campaign in Akure, the state capital, State Youth Leader Daodu Babatunde said the PDP youth are committed to working collectively to ensure electoral victory for Ajayi.

Babatunde, who called on the people of the state to vote for the party, said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has wreaked havoc on the nation’s economy and that it is high time for the electorate to turn their backs on a party synonymous with hardship.

He stated that the ruling APC government had allegedly failed the people of the state and that the people are ready to vote the PDP back to power.

He said, “We are capable and ready to take over this government because, having interviewed our candidate, Agboola Ajayi, he has assured us that he will create an enabling environment for the youth to succeed. So my advice for the youth is to participate and know that we are ready.

We have 18 local government areas and 203 youth leaders who are prepared to take the campaign to every corner of the state. If that is done, our aims and objectives will be achieved.

Our candidate has given us a message of hope, and once he gets into government, he will prioritize youth issues, providing employment and empowerment opportunities.”

A youth leader and one of the conveners of the event, Wale Ajayi, said the program was initiated to commence a house-to-house campaign for the PDP and to send a warning to the ruling government in the state to be ready to vacate office.

“Nigerians have been displaced by the APC government. This is a political movement; it is not just for the PDP alone, but for the youth of Ondo State who are agitating for a better state and country.

That is why we are doing this. This movement will reach people at the grassroots who are ready to give us victory in the next election. We are bringing everyone together, everyone who is conscious of what is happening in our society.”

While speaking, a former chairman of the party, Mr. Clement Faboyede, said the youth of the opposition party have shown their desire to achieve victory in the November election.

“It is only in Ondo State PDP that you will see young and aspiring youth like this. By the grace of God, we will spread the ‘gospel’ to every corner of Ondo State peacefully, and by the grace of God, we will achieve success. Once our candidate wins, we will fully involve the youth, creating opportunities for them, and once we do that, they will continue in politics.”
