The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming governorship election in Ondo state, Hon. Agboola Ajayi, has promised to save the coastal community of Ayetoro from going into extinction if elected as the governor of the state.
Ajayi who gave this assurance during his campaign tour to the Ese PDP local government area said his administration would find a lasting solution to the sea incursion threatening the people and residents of the community.
Ajayi who noted that the people of the area had been abandoned for a long time said his administration would assist in the reclamation of Ayetoro community that is threatening the continuous existence of the ancient town.
Earlier, the traditional ruler of Ajapa Kingdom, Oba Godwin Aboyewa, pleaded with the PDP candidate, to assist in the reclamation of Ayetoro community in Ilaje local council from sea incursion that is threatening the continuous existence of the ancient town.
According to the monarch, the Ajapa community would also be affected if the Ayetoro community is not saved from total extinction, noting Ajapa kingdom might be at risk of the rapacious effect of its extinction.
The traditional ruler also appealed to the PDP candidate to look into the dearth of infrastructure in the area, stressing the need for portable water and qualitative and affordable education in the community.
The monarch, however, prayed for the PDP candidate’s success in the election and reminded him to always give back to the community if he eventually becomes the Governor of Ondo State.
Ajayi assured the king that the Ayetoro Community would be saved from extinction if elected and said “I want to appreciate the brotherly love you have displayed here today that you want us to save the Ayetoro Community from total extinction.
“You have shown high level of patriotism and I can assure you today that if we get to office by next year February, we would chase the sea away from Ayetoro Community by at least 2 kilometers , it is not going to be by magic but is something we are prepared to do”
Ajayi also visited other communities in the local government which include, Bolowo and Arogbo, where he promised to attend to the immediate needs of the people.
The traditional ruler of Apoi land, Oba Sunday Amuseghan led other Kings to pray for the success of Ajayi in the election and said “Ese Odo is for Agboola Ajayi, there is no two way to it, we are here to pray for him alongside our traditional rulers and I am very sure our people will give him maximum support in this coming election.
“If anybody is saying something else, they are just deceiving themselves, our block vote is for Agbo and Fessy here”.
