The governor of Ondo State and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Saturday’s governorship election, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has appealed to his supporters across the state not to be complacent in their efforts ahead of the poll.
The governor explained that the remaining hours before the election should be used to intensify the mobilisation drive towards delivering victory for the party on November 16.
Aiyedatiwa spoke on Thursday in Akure, the Ondo state capital, during an interactive event organised for stakeholders by the Special Engagement Committee of the APC National Campaign Council for the governorship election.
The event was attended by the chairman of the committee and Governor of Katsina State, Dikko Umar Radda, represented by his deputy, Farouk Lawal; the immediate past deputy governor of Edo State, Phillips Shaibu; the APC national vice chairman (South West), Hon Isaacs Kekemeke; and the secretary of the committee, Femi Adekambi, among other party leaders and stakeholders.
Governor Aiyedatiwa urged the party supporters to go back to their respective communities and local government areas for them to fully participate in the election with their permanent voter cards.
While revealing that he is the only candidate who successfully toured the 18 LGAs and communities, he added that when elected he would deliver on his promises to the people towards the development of the state.
Aiyedatiwa, who did not give their names, declared that no fewer than eight governorship candidates have endorsed him ahead of the election, reiterating that the people of the state are comfortable with the APC and would support it to continue in office.
According to him, “We have only one agenda ahead of us, and that is to deliver the victory on Saturday because we have campaigned across the state and listened to the plights of the people.
“Let us go back to our communities and continue the work; we must not be complacent; there is still work to be done, and we must be ready to finish the work for ultimate victory.
“Just this morning, eight governorship candidates have declared support for us ahead of the election, and that should tell us that the people are with us.”
Speaking, the Chairman of the Special Engagement Committee and governor of Katsina State, who was represented by his deputy, Lawal, said the task before members of the committee is to galvanise supporters and stakeholders ahead of the Saturday’s poll.
He expressed optimism that the candidate of the party would be victorious in view of his acceptance by the people and his contributions to deepening good governance since he took over as governor ten months ago.
On his part, the secretary of the committee and former commissioner in the state, Femi Adekambi, said the priority of the committee is to deliver 100 per cent victory for the APC, saying that members have been divided along the three senatorial districts for grassroots mobilisation for the poll.
