The Ondo State government has expressed readiness to partner with Teesas Education, an innovative education technology (EdTech) firm as part of the ways to boost education and the quality of learners in the state.
The state’s commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr Olaolu Akindolire, gave this hint while receiving the management team of Teesas Education in his office in Akure, the state capital.
According to the commissioner, the administration of Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa is passionate and also eager to turn things around for better in the state’s education sector so as to ensure that students across the state get the best in terms of quality and qualitative education.
He said that was why the state government opened its doors to any private sector participant with genuine interest of adding value to teaching and learning in the state.
Earlier in his address, Teesas Education founder and chairman, Mr Osayi Izedonmwen, gave insights into the proposed partnership and what the state stands to benefit.
He said in a statement made available to Nigerian Tribune, that the partnership will bring in a robust self-funded educational solution that will unlock donor funding to transform the academic trajectory of the state-owned secondary schools.
He declared that by the partnership, Teesas Education will deploy a fully integrated Education Management System (EMS), which is a curriculum-aligned digital content in videos and e-book formats and also provide tablets for teachers and students to drive the transformation of public schools in the state.
Izedonmwen explained further that “EMS is an integrated system designed to enable consistent lesson delivery, increased interactivity in classrooms, and accountability among teachers and students leading to improved learning outcomes.
Similarly, he said, “All lesson plans will be standardised and delivered to teachers via the EMS and tablets.
“Teachers will log in, check class timetables, take students’ attendance, and access scripted lessons on the EMS.
“Students will also be able to receive lesson notes on their tablets and continue their learning journey on the Teesas Education App either in school or at home.”
He added, “Anyone with access to the EMS can instantly see when a teacher arrives in school and the number of students present and absent in each class.
Also, at the end of an academic year, if a student performs poorly, the school can tell why, based on their attendance and performance in quizzes and assessments,” he said.
