Chairman of Ona Ara Local Government Area of Oyo State, Dr. Temitope Kolapo, has appealed to residents of the council to support and cooperate with the council on the programmes, projects and activities of the present administration geared towards making life more meaningful to the citizenry.
Kolapo noted that the only way meaningful development can be seen in the area is through collaboration of all stakeholders.
The council chairman, who made the call during the launching of Database of the local government at the council secretariat, Akanran, added that “the initiative is part of the ongoing efforts to build a comprehensive database that will aid in better and quality service delivery and community development.”
He noted that his administration has lined up meaningful and developmental programmes that will benefit the people and make the council a model in the state and the country at large, adding that the Database is for both the indigenes and residents of the council for easy accessibility to the dividends of democracy.
He urged everyone in the local government area to register as the Data generated will be the blueprint for distribution of amenities; especially grants, loans and empowerment projects.
“This initiative is part of our ongoing efforts to build a comprehensive database that will aid in better service delivery and community development. We encourage all indigenes and residents of Ona-Ara Local Government Area to register their details using the provided link. Your participation is vital for the progress and development of our community,” he said.
The programme which is a two-in-one event also witnessed the foundation-laying of Oba Tajudeen Ajibola Traditional Hall, named after the incumbent chairman of Traditional Council, His Royal Majesty, Oba Tajudeen Abimbola Ajibola which is scheduled to be built and furnished with ultra-modern amenities.
Another highlight of the event is the inauguration of the Database Committee, Market Development and Monitoring Committee, Internally Generated Revenue Driven Committee, as well as committee on Lands and Tasks Force members.
The Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola expressed gratitude to the chairman and his cabinet for bringing rapid progress and development to the council within the short period of three months and called on residents of the local government area to support the administration while pledging support of the traditional rulers.
The Jagun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Jubril Dotun Sanusi expressed gratitude to Governor Makinde for giving Ona-Ara an administrator like Dr. Kolapo at this crucial point, adding that he will always support any projects of the council that will benefit the people.
He expressed optimism that the chairman will do more monumental projects before he clocks a year in office.
The former president of Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), Chief Bayo Oyero, who expressed happiness towards the projects, urged the chairman to always embark on projects that will curb the alarming rate of poverty in the community.
Earlier, the chairman had paid visits to orphanage homes within the council, launched entrepreneurial training for the youth and inaugurated the renovated local government secretariat and the magistrate court at Jegede area of the council.
