Olumo Rock of Ages, Abeokuta

Definitely, Olumo Rock, planted by God Almighty in Ikija Forest Abeokuta for the geographical balancing of the environment which has added value of immeasurable imagination to the indigenes of Egba as a historical shelter of protection from war of attrition for the ancestral founder of Egba and now enhanced as a money generating site of international reputation is truly Rock of Ages.

A tour of the magnificent historical Rock by Tribune Tourism Magazine last week exposed the current state of the tourism site which needs improved enhancement and more advanced marketing blow out.

Though the officials of the Ogun State Ministry of Culture and Tourism were going about their duties guiding the   few visitors and tourists through the museum, the craft shop and the gallery all harbouring memorable items and souvenirs relating to Ogun State.

Though the escalator is  partially in operation as it can only take tourists to the second level of the Rock while the journey to the top was made smooth by the tour guide, Miss Kemisola Sofoluwe who engaged the tourists with the tale and historical significance of each point of importance on the Rock.

Olumo Rock is not only significant to the historical legacy of the Egba people, but a tourism icon of inestimable proportion which he state must enhance and polish to lure more tourists to the state.
