Barely 48 hours ahead of the coronation of the Olu of Warri, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State, Ari Muhammed Ali, has deployed 1,000 police personnel to provide adequate security for a hitch-free exercise.
CP Ali, in a statement signed by the acting Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bright Edafe, on Wednesday, assured that the “police personnel will ensure a water-tight security before, during and after the coronation ceremony.”
Nigerian Tribune reported that the coronation of the 21st Olu of Warri, Omooba ‘Tsola Emiko, the Olu-designate, comes up Saturday, August 21, 2021 at the ancestral home of Itsekiris, Ode-Itsekiri.
Speaking further on the preparation ahead of the Saturday event, CP Ali said: “Two bomb squads have been deployed to report 48 hours before the coronation day to sweep the venue and ensure it is completely rendered safe, two units of mobile police personnel and conventional police officers which include traffic personnel have been deployed. This is to ensure water-tight security.”
The commissioner of police, however, warned mischief-makers to steer clear as the command is more than ready to deal decisively with anybody with the intent to disrupt or cause any form of mischief during the coronation.
“All that needs to be done to ensure that the event is hitch-free and devoid of any form of violence has been put in place,” CP Ali said.
