The Rotary Club of Ijagun, TASUED has installed Olori Oluyinka Omotobi Banjo as its seventh irrestitible President RC Ijagun TASUED.
Banjo, a Chief Laboratory Technologist assumed office at an investiture that came up in Ijebu-Ode recently.
Speaking during her inauguration, Banjo said being a Rotarian was an opportunity for her to take action and make a difference, which will bring about personal revamps and lifelong relationships in the process.
She promised to build on the existing structures and activities that had been laid down in tandem with the 9112 and R1 goals.
She added that as a growing club, it has been able to make a modest impact around its communities and they will do more.
She said that in the last four months, the club had carried out various activities, including the provision of health materials to Ogbo Health Centre, where expectant mothers received maternal materials.
Basic education and literacy event at Araromi Primary School, Ijagun-Imaweje where textbooks, exercise books and other writing materials were donated to the pupils to motivate their reading culture.
The new president disclosed that the club has concluded a plan to donate school uniforms, school sandals and socks, and exercise books to primary school pupils, while sanitary pads will be distributed to teen girls in secondary schools.
She also noted that the club will organize an empowerment programme for the underprivileged in the communities to support their business, among others.
The club gave awards to prominent personalities who are doing well in the communities like, the Orimolusi of Ijebu-Igbo, Oba Lawrence Jaiyeola Adebanjo; Oba Olusegun Ogunye, Oba Luqman Olamilekan Kuoye, Oba Abdulwasiu Ademola Sobowale, Chief (Mrs) Akorede Alatise, Mr Amos Akinpelu, Professor Ademijulo Onabamiro, Professor Abayomi Arigbabu and Otunba Adebayo Odunowo, among others.
